Sunday Morning with Dr. Yarhouse
Feb

Sunday Morning with Dr. Yarhouse

On Sunday morning, Dr. Yarhouse will be teaching in both services as part of Sex, God, & the Ache for More. It will feel a bit more like a workshop or lecture than a typical sermon—and that’s intentional.

We’ll be asking:

  • How does the Christian story make sense of our longing to be known, named, and loved?

  • What does it mean to talk about “identity” as followers of Jesus?

  • How can the church become a place where people can be honest about their questions without fear of being shamed or dismissed?

Whether you are LGBTQ+, know someone who is, or are simply trying to understand these questions better, you’re welcome to listen in, reflect, and wrestle at your own pace. All are welcome.

Sunday Evening with Dr. Yarhouse

Sunday Evening with Dr. Yarhouse

The Sunday evening forum is designed with you in mind if:

  • You identify as LGBTQ+ or are close to someone who does.

  • You grew up in church and are trying to figure out what to do with that history.

  • You’re a parent, relative, or friend and you just don’t want to hurt the people you love.

  • You’re curious (or skeptical) about how Christians think about gender and sexuality.

What the evening looks like:

  1. A short, accessible talk from Dr. Yarhouse on how Christians can think about gender and sexual identity in a way that takes both Scripture and real people seriously.

  2. Open Q&A, with options to submit questions anonymously or ask them in person.

You don’t have to agree with us to attend. You don’t have to be “on a journey” to change your mind.

We simply want to offer a space where:

  • Christians can be honest about what we believe,

  • LGBTQ+ people and their loved ones can be honest about what they’ve lived,

  • and everyone is treated like a person, not a category.

No childcare will be offered for this event. The content is aimed at adults and older teens.

Next Steps Weekend

Next Steps Weekend

You were made for more than busyness, burnout, or just getting by.

Next Steps Weekend is designed to help you slow down, reconnect with what matters, and discover who you are in God's story. This weekend, we'll explore the anatomy of your soul, the stories that have shaped you, the habits that are forming you, and the relationships that can help you become more like Jesus.

This isn't a passive conference. It's more like a workshop. Each session is about half teaching and half discussion—processing, reflecting, and applying what we're learning in real time. There will be space for you to process things with God & with others.

Whether you're new to New Story or you've been here for years, this weekend is a chance to get clarity on your next step toward a deeper, more grounded life with Jesus.

Who is this for?

  • Anyone new to New Story Church

  • Anyone who wants to go further in their walk with God

  • Recent members and leaders who want to know this content inside and out (this is our first time offering this weekend format, and we want you to experience it)

Note: This is a prerequisite for membership at New Story Church. We’ll offer it again as a four-week course later in the year.

We look forward to meeting at our regular gathering times in the new year on Sunday, January 4, refreshed and full of anticipation for all that God will do in 2026!
